Barkway Stud

Quality Riding Ponies, Welsh Ponies Section B and Welsh Part Bred

Orielton Aristocrat

Dark Bay Welsh B who started a dynasty of Barkway ponies whose successes in the showring have been phenomenal including four HOYS winners and three HOYS champions.

Beckside Little Toff

Being shown as a yearling by Mark Northern.  Toff was virtually unbeaten when shown in hand and has produced us countless champions including Maisie Jayne HOYS first ridden winner.  He is still standing at stud and will be 20 years next year.  He has won the 128cm NPS Riding Pony Progeny Award.

Barkway Tiptoes

Bay Mare by Orielton Aristocrat.  A very successful lead rein pony who was 6th HOYS and who has since been kindly loaned back to the stud by her owner Mrs Jill Stapleton to be bred from.  She has bred us three outstanding fillies in the past three years called Barkway Tiny Tears - sold to Mrs Sonia Cooper to compete as a lead rein/first ridden for her grandchildren, Barkway Tia Dalma - retained for Eloise Pinnock to compete in lead rein/first ridden and this year's foal Barkway Telltale to be again kept as a furture ridden prospect for Eloise.

Barkway Polly Flinders

Bay filly who was Champion Foal at Ponies UK and then went on to a very successful in-hand career before being a top HOYS 128cm show pony.

Spinningdale Birthday Surprise

Bay mare purchased by the stud as a two year old and successfully shown in-hand including 1st and Champion The Royal Show and Reserve for the Cuddy, and 1st and Champion NPS and Supreme qualifying for the Cuddy at HOYS and finishing 5th overall at HOYS.  Sadly she died foaling Barkway Birthday Gift who has subsequently died from Leukemia.  Berty left us Barkway Celebration (in foal for 2011 to Barkway Georgio).

Barkway Playboy

Chestnut gelding by Teilwood Scorpio who was virtually unbeaten in his day as a mountain and moorland lead rein including winning the Lobster Pot at Ponies UK which was at the time the biggest lead rein competition before lead rein mountain and moorlands went to HOYS.

Barkway Extacy

Bay filly by Orielton Aristocrat - very successfully shown as a youngster by Mark Northern and sold to Mr and Mrs Roper-Caldbeck as a future broodmare.

Barkway Arbennig

Bay filly by Orielton Aristocrat - a top in-hand Welsh B mare who was Reserve Champion B mare at the Royal Welsh and won four bronze medals in a long and successful showing career.

Barkway Tapdance

Top show pony first ridden who qualified for RIHS and HOYS before retiring as a broodmare - she sadly died at stud before she managed to produce any foals.

Barkway Ballerina

Welsh B liver chestnut mare.  Our first foal and the mother of Barkway Symphony who has produced us many champion ridden ponies.

Another picture of Barkway Ballerina as a brood mare being shown in a riding pony class.

Colne Hornbeam and Charlie Pinnock - a wonderful pony who had only a short ridden career before becoming incurably ill.  He retired from ridden classes at just four and then was the best foal nanny for many years before we lost him last year.

Claire riding Wortley Wild Jasmin at HOYS where she was placed 7th, 6th and 9th the three years she qualified.

Claire riding Baledon Commanchero who qualified for Olympia no less than eight times including with Claire when he was 17.
